Message from the Pastor

Pastor Dave and Pam

After completing my undergraduate work at Messiah College in 1976, I entered into the ministry full time. My wife, Pam, and I met at the college. The Lord put us into a wonderful relationship that has only gotten better as the years have gone by. Pam is a woman of God and it comes through in the many ways she ministers to the family, the congregation and the community.

Our first full pastoral charge was with the Evangelical Christian Church in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. In 1980, we sensed a calling to go to the greater Chicago area. Through a remarkable leading of the Spirit, we were able to help revitalize the Evanston Free Methodist Church, pastoring there for over 13 years. During that pastorate I completed my graduate work through Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and Loyola University of Chicago.

In the summer of 1993, we transitioned to the Woodstock Free Methodist Church.

Just recently I have taken on volunteer chaplaincy with the Woodstock Police Department.

The church is active in community service to the hungry, the needy and unmarried young mothers, among other things. One member is actively involved with prison ministry each week at the county corrections center a mile up the road from the church. We also are grateful for a couple Gideons in our membership.

Recently I have been asking the Lord to help us connect with people who would find Woodstock Free Methodist Church a place where they could receive ministry and give it. We're grateful for so many willing workers.

As we look into the future in a difficult world, we will remain committed to the Holy Scriptures. People, organizations and people are in constant flux, but Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Our allegiance is to Him forever.

His Blessings,
Pastor Dave Cooper
